Fizz Training Academy was launched in 2018 to deliver in-house food safety, health & safety, and risk assessment training for its sister company, Fizz Experience.

The academy doors were opened to external clients in January 2019 when it became clear that other small and medium-sized businesses could benefit from quality food safety, health & safety, and management development training.

All Fizz Academy courses are accredited by the Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC) and nationally recognised certificates are issued on successful completion.

HABC Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering

If you are responsible for handling food in a catering business, this one-day course is the most popular food safety course on the market and is accepted by enforcement officers and auditors. The investment for a place on a scheduled course is just £80 per delegate.

HABC Level 3 Award in Food Safety in Catering

“Learn what to do on a day-to-day basis to manage food safely.”

On this three-day course, catering managers and supervisors will learn what to do on a day-to-day basis to manage food safely. A key feature of the course is learning how to implement the basics of a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) food safety management system, essential for every catering business. Book a place on a scheduled course and the investment is just £399 per delegate, including tea, coffee, and lunch for all three days.

HABC Level 4 Award in Food Safety in Catering

If you’re a catering manager or supervisor, you’ll leave this intense, comprehensive, five-day course with in-depth knowledge and understanding of food safety, and an understanding of your role in establishing and maintaining high food safety standards as a manager. Investment: £800 per delegate.

Food allergen courses

HABC Level 2 Award in Food Allergen Awareness and Control in Catering

If you are responsible for handling or preparing food in a catering business, this half-day course and qualification will help you develop an awareness and understanding of food allergens. Plus, Allergy UK is in support of the qualification for catering businesses that want to apply for their Allergy Aware Scheme. Investment per delegate is just £50.

HABC Level 3 Award in Food Allergen Management in Catering 

Catering employees and business owners responsible for the purchase, delivery, production, and serving of food will learn how to manage food allergens on this one-day course. As a bonus, the qualification is supported by Allergy UK, who regard it as suitable staff training for catering outlets that wish to apply for their Allergy Aware Scheme. Investment per delegate is £100.

HABC Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace

This is a one-day course where you’ll learn:

  • The health and safety responsibilities of employers and employees
  • How to conduct a risk assessment
  • Common causes of, how to reduce, and the importance of recording, accidents, near misses and ill-health
  • Typical health and safety hazards in the workplace and how to control them
  • How to design and apply emergency procedures

HABC Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace

This three-day course provides managers and supervisors of any business with a more in-depth understanding of all aspects of health and safety than the level 2 course above. You’ll learn what to do on a day-to-day basis to keep staff, customers, and others healthy and safe. You’ll discover how to adopt a structured management approach and how to implement a health and safety policy. A place on a scheduled course is just £399 per delegate.

HABC Level 4 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace

This five-day course will help candidates develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of health and safety, and leave them with a clear vision of their vital role in establishing and maintaining high standards. Investment: £800 per delegate.

HABC Level 2 Award in Risk Assessment

This one-day course is a deep-dive into risk assessments: the five stages of the risk assessment process, how to carry out effective risk assessments, and which risk assessment format to use. Investment is just £80 per delegate. 

HABC Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment

“An effective yet easy-to-use risk assessment format.”

In just one day, you will develop the knowledge and confidence you need to carry out or review risk assessments in your business. More in-depth than the level 2 course above, you will be guided through an effective yet easy-to-use risk assessment format, so you leave with the necessary depth of understanding to undertake conduct effective risk assessments. £100 per delegate.

HABC Level 2 Award in HACCP for Catering

On this one-day course, catering employees responsible for handling food, who working (or are preparing to work) in a HACCP catering team, will learn about HACCP and their role in adopting food hygiene and safety procedures. Investment per delegate is just £100.

HABC Level 2 Award in the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health

On this short but intense half-day course, you will learn the basics of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH), a system designed to prevent damage to a person’s health through exposure to harmful substances. You will develop knowledge of the health risks posed by hazardous substances and how to work safely with them. You will also discover how to undertake a COSHH assessment in your business or workplace. A mere £50 investment required per delegate on a scheduled course.
